Performing the Install:

Prerequisites:

Ensure the file server meets the requirements outlined here: HeavyBid Server Requirements
If a SaaS Customer, please reference the following document to configure HeavyBid for Saas: Overview: Configuring a HeavyBid SaaS Environment
  • Note: This step must be performed prior to logging into HeavyBid for the first time.

Step 1: Setup Server Network Share

Note: An existing network share can be utilized if criteria match. If using an existing network share, proceed to Step 2.

Requirement: HeavyBid (Multi-User) systems require a network share with the following criteria:

  • Consistent drive letter mapping across all machines requiring access.
  • All HeavyBid users require Modify, Read & execute, List folder contents, Read, and Write folder permissions to the entire installation folder on the network share.

  1. Create a new folder on the file server in the desired location for the install.
    • The full path to the folder cannot contain spaces.
  2. Right-click on the new folder, and click Properties
  3. Click the Sharing tab.
  4. Click Share and then select the users or groups to share the folder with.
    • Set Permission Level for all users/groups to Read/Write.
  5. Map the network share to a drive letter that can be consistently used throughout the network:
Note: The exact steps for mapping a network drive will vary based on operating system.
  1. Navigate to My Computer.
  2. Click Map Network Drive.
  3. Select an available drive letter.
  4. Enter the location of the folder as \\servername\sharename (example: \\HCSS-FS\HeavyBid).
  5. Click Finish.

Tip: It is recommended to add this network drive mapping to login scripts or group policy to ensure consistency. Please consult internal IT for assistance with setting up a login script or group policy.
