Once all costs are in the estimate, it is time to add markup and any additional dollars which are necessary for the final total bid.
The first step is to summarize the estimate, which will total all of the resource costs and separate them into categories such as equipment, labor, burden, etc.
Open the Bid Summary window by navigating to Menu > Summary > Summary or by clicking the Bid Summary icon in the top toolbar.
The Totals tab is the main bid summary screen.
The Standard Markup Instructions area shows the cost for each cost category and allows a different markup percentage to be entered for each category.
The Previous Run area shows the timestamp of the last summary and spread.
The Standard Spreads area determines how markup, indirect costs, and addon/bond will be spread back to the direct biditems.
The Totals as of Last Spread area provides information for cost totals as of the most recent Bid Summary and Spread.
The Run Bid Summary and Run Spread buttons will be bold any time a change has been made to the estimate which is not reflected in the Bid Summary screen.
In HeavyBid, an addon is any amount that is added to the estimate after the resource costs have been totaled.
Click the Addons tab at the top of the Bid Summary window.
In the first row in the grid, enter the following information:
In Addon, enter 1. This is a unique identifier for this addon in this estimate.
In Description, enter Overhead.
In Basis, enter TC (Total Cost). The basis determines how the addon is calculated.
A list of all possible basis values can be viewed by clicking the Basis column heading.
In Percent, enter 10. Used with a basis of TC (total cost), this will add 10% of the total estimate cost to the final bid price.
Select the check box in the Cost column to indicate that this addon should be spread as a cost, not as markup. As a cost, the addon will be spread using the Addon/Bond spread method (selected on the Totals tab) rather than using the Markup spread method.
